Moving to the big city!

So the theme of the moment is everything uni-related. The past few weeks have been spent collecting all sorts of stuff to take with me. 9 days to go now and it's all starting to feel real as my belongings slowly disappear into bags and boxes. Scary stuff! Guna miss these guys ❤

Rekindled my love for Umit Benan

Just been doing a little late night reading of Tank's Summer 2012 issue and came across a lovely article on Umit Benan and his amazing career. He was a great inspiration for one of my college projects and this article just proves how fabulous he is. I was intrigued by the article's mention of a military stage scene integrated in the runway show of his Fall 2012 collection. Its unlike anything I've ever seen and is really getting me thinking about dabbling in menswear at uni. I recommend any fashion lovers to watch this..

LCA Final Project Garments

These are just a couple of photos (not edited) from my Final Major Project photoshoot. The garments I made were the outcomes of an 11 week project based around the idea of uniform and the public perception of uniform. Through my research, I found that people are quick to make assumptions and associations with or about people wearing certain uniforms, and so I felt it would be interesting to manipulate and play around with existing uniforms by combining them with others in different ways; almost like an investigation to find out if people were still able to make those same assumptions and associations.
The idea behind the styling came from a previous pin-point in the project whereby I had looked at the idea of uniform being a way of becoming anonymous. And so I felt that by painting the face and making the model look like a mannequin almost, it put across this idea of loss of identity.

Onwards and Upwards

Well, after  recently receiving the amazing news that I am the proud owner of a Merit from my FAD course at LCA, I figured now was the time to start the blog which I've been meaning to start for the past year and a half. It's taken me long enough to get here but I can finally say I'm on my way to uni!
